VCT Care

vct floorsWalk into virtually most commercial building today and chances are your feet will be on vinyl composition tile (VCT). VCT is widely used and a popular choice because of how durable (both scratch and stain resistant) it can be and its maintenance simplicity (very resistant to water damage and heavy foot traffic). However, in order to last for the ages it will need to be cleaned and maintained on a regular basis! VCT also requires protection, typically in the form of polyacrylate floor finishes. Floor finish creates multiple layers of protection that can be repaired and restored in the future all while keeping the Vinyl Composite Tile safe. These finishes also create beautiful gloss and a smooth clean surface and will help prevent absorption into the tile of both stains and bacteria.

Cloud Floor & Upholstery Cleanings primary goal for your buildings VCT is to keep the surface clean and looking its best, which helps extend the life of the floor.

  • Proper entry rugs: Use walk-off mats at all entryways to help keep floors clean and dry longer; these will need regular cleaning which is something we also offer.
  • Daily cleaning: Involves sweeping and dust mopping dirt and soil off the VCT surface, a crucial step to prevent damage to the tile finish. Then, damp mop or auto-scrub floors using a neutral cleaner to remove any remaining particulates.
  • Refinishing: It is good practice to periodically scrub and or strip and recoat VCT floor finish. Three-to-five layers of protective finish will minimize potential damage to the tiles from embedded soils.
  • Scrubbing pads: It is important to use the appropriate scrubbing pad for regular VCT maintenance.
